CommunitySignUp

Terms and conditions

These terms govern your use of CommunitySignUp on communitysignup.com. If you do not agree, do not use the site.

Last updated: September 1, 2026.

The service

CommunitySignUp lets organizers publish sign-up sheets and lets people claim slots. We provide the software and hosting for this copy of the site. We do not organize the underlying events and we are not a party to them. A published sheet is the organizer’s event, not ours.

Accounts

You must give accurate information when you register. You are responsible for your password, for devices signed in as you, and for activity under your account. We may suspend an account that is abused, automated, or used to harm others. Email confirmation may be required before some account features work.

Free and Plus

Free accounts may create five sign-up sheets. Plus is a paid subscription: $10 each month or $100 for twelve months (two months free versus monthly). Payment is processed by Stripe. Subscriptions renew until canceled. Complimentary or operator-granted accounts may have unlimited sheets without a card. Fees are in U.S. dollars. Taxes may apply where required.

Refunds

Because Plus unlocks unlimited sheets immediately, fees are generally non-refundable except where the law requires otherwise. If a charge looks wrong, message the site admins from a signed-in account.

Your content

You keep ownership of the text, photos, lists, and attachments you upload. You grant us a license to host, display, translate, and send that content as needed to run the sheet — including public pages, sitemaps, confirmation email, reminders, and organizer notices. Do not post content you do not have the right to use. Do not post illegal, harassing, or deceptive material.

Organizer responsibilities

If you publish a sheet you are responsible for the event itself: safety, permissions, accessibility, and any collection of information about minors. Private sheets stay off public lists, but anyone with the link can still open them. You must not use the service to email people who did not agree to hear from you. You may only message people on your own list or in groups you own.

Participants

Claiming a slot is an agreement with the organizer, not with CommunitySignUp. Show up if you said you would, or use the manage link to change your signup when the sheet allows it.

Acceptable use

Do not probe the site, scrape in a way that burdens the service, upload malware, impersonate others, or try to access another person’s account or roster. We may remove content or sheets that violate these terms.

Availability

The service is provided “as is.” We aim to keep it running but we do not guarantee uptime, delivery of every email, or that a third-party mail host will accept our messages. Confirmations, reminders, and organizer notices send when outbound mail is set up for this host.

Limitation of liability

To the fullest extent allowed by law, CommunitySignUp and its operators are not liable for indirect, incidental, or consequential damages, or for disputes between organizers and participants. Our total liability for a claim relating to the service is limited to the amount you paid us for the service in the twelve months before the claim, or fifty U.S. dollars if you paid nothing.

Indemnity

You will defend and hold us harmless from claims that arise from your content, your event, or your misuse of the site.

Governing law

These terms are governed by the laws of the Commonwealth of Virginia, without regard to conflict-of-law rules, except where a mandatory consumer law in your state says otherwise. Courts in Virginia may hear disputes that the parties cannot resolve informally.

Changes and termination

We may update these terms and will change the date above. We may stop offering the service. You may stop using it at any time and cancel Plus from Billing or by messaging admins. Sections that should survive (including liability limits) remain in effect.

Contact

Legal notices for this hosted copy should be sent to the operator of communitysignup.com. Product questions can go through Help or a signed-in message to the site admins.
